The French luxury conglomerate takes a non-controlling stake in the Italian jewellery house of Repossi. The family-run business plans to use the minority stake to expand distribution.
Though not a new brand (it was founded in 1920), Repossi is run by Gaia Repossi, the young and well-connected fourth-generation family member. Appointed creative and artistic director in 2007 at the age of 21, she has reinvented the house as a cooler fine jewellery brand and become its mediagenic face.
Since then, Gaia Repossi has collaborated with her friend Alexander Wang, had Rem Koolhaas redesign the company’s Place Vendôme flagship and made every cool girls crave for her thin designs enhanced with tiny diamonds.
Her dazzling success combined with her close relationship with Delphine Arnault – board member at LVMH and second in command at Louis Vuitton – it was only a matter of time before her family business got an LVMH seal… Congratulations Repossi and thank you for the brilliant strategy lesson!
